To protect the quality of life and the property of those who live, work, invest, and visit our community.

Our Goals

To accomplish this mission the Nixa Fire Protection District establishes the following goals:

  • Maintain adequate emergency preparedness to handle a variety of potential life or property threatening situations in order to provide safety for the citizens of our district.
  • Promote personal development within the department while utilizing effective principals and practices of modern fire and life safety technology in an accountable manner.
  • Establish and maintain a relationship with other outside agencies.

The Nixa Fire Protection District covers an area of approximately 53 square miles. District boundaries run north the Christian / Greene County line, west along the James River to the fork where the James meets the Finley River, north on the Finley River, east approximately halfway between Nixa and Ozark, then north to the county line.

The district is supported by a voter approved property tax assessment of $0.6030 per hundred dollars of assessed valuation. All taxes are collected by the Christian and Stone County Assessor’s Office.

The full-time staff provides 24-hour coverage. Equipment is located at five stations:

We respond to all Fire, Rescue and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) calls within the district. Normal response time in the city is 3–4 minutes. The Nixa Fire Protection District has mutual aid agreements with all surrounding fire departments.
The Nixa Fire Protection District is very active in the community with fire prevention, public education, M.D.A. fund raising, fire inspections, code enforcement, and many other areas. With the rapid growth of new commercial and residential buildings, the personnel of the district remain committed to meeting the life safety needs of the community.
The City of Nixa is not only the fastest growing city in the fastest growing county in the state, but was recently placed in the top 28 fastest growing cities with a population under 50,000 in the United States. The department carries a class 3 Insurance Services Office (ISO) rating inside the City of Nixa and a class 5 throughout the rest of the district.
100% of our firefighters are state-certified. Firefighters train on a weekly basis throughout the year and also attend training courses at the state and federal level.
An elected five person Board of Directors are responsible for guiding the department’s overall direction.
